I have had this dress for almost a year. I acquired it at Tori Steel's Estate Sale in Dallas, along with so many other pieces. I have only posted a few, Tori Steele had a famous couture boutique on Rodeo Drive and was featured in the movie Pretty Woman. To have some of her pieces is special enough but to have a Patrick Kelly is like finding a unicorn. It is fitted with dramatic shoulders that are heavily padded. Slim sleeves that go into a wrap that can be worn in many ways. But over the head is my favorite. The wool and acrylic blend jersey is soft and light weight.

Patrick Kelly was a designer who was known for his joyful, playful designs. His pieces were often inspired by his childhood memories and the people and places that impacted his life. The incredibly talented Mississippi-born, Paris-based black fashion designer broke many boundaries and shook up the conventional fashion world with his unique interpretation of what fashion should look like. He was an early champion of body positivity and he encouraged women of all sizes to love themselves and show off their curves.

Kelly was the first American designer ever to be admitted to the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter, the governing body of the Ready to Wear industry in France. His first show at the Louvre Palace was a spoof on the Mona Lisa, featuring models carrying oversized gold frames in front of their faces.

"I want my clothes to make you smile!" -Patrick Kelly

Excellent Vintage Condition, there is a pin size hole on the shoulder but not noticeable due to the padding.
