I found this dress along with another pink gown at a local estate sale. The closet was filled with beautiful 60s petite wool ensembles from Lillie Rubin, however there were two formal zibeline silk gowns displayed on the doors that caught my eye. They had been dried cleaned and stored for decades in its plastic which is not recommended. I knew I was taking a chance with these beauties. After watching Palm Royale's "Beach Ball" where Maxine wears that stunning bell shaped white gown, I was motivated to start the cleaning process. This dress presents itself beautifully but it is definitely for true vintage lovers that don't mind flaws. This dress was soaked for days! The dress has a classic silhouette, sleeveless, high beaded neck, hidden pockets and a heavily beaded sash. It is composed of a beautiful silk twill and fully lined in cotton. I love to see the perfect stitching and construction of this piece. So much talent went into this dress from the hand beading at the neckline to the darts and seams to create its shape. Several nibbles on the right side down from the hip area to the ankles. If you are picky about having a perfect dress, this is not for you. A faint discoloration on the bust, please check out photos and videos, it is really hard to see. I have priced the dress to reflect its condition.
